I'm tired of reading the news. I'm tired of watching the news. I'm tired of everyone's opinions. We all need to stop being dicks to one another.
That should be enough, but writing a note just to call everyone a dick seems a bit mean, and not the thought that I'm wanting to convey.
I remember way back in the day, discussing who the best Ninja Turtle was. Personally, I was always a fan of Donatello, he was smart, he could invent things. Many of my friends were more supportive of Michaelangelo. This argument would usually last about 5 minutes, and we'd move on. This never caused physical altercations, we never had rallies about which Turtle we were more keen to, it was just a matter of opinion. Now, when we argue, it's all or nothing. One must win, one must fall. It's turned into Thunderdome in the real world (but not as awesome). Politics, religion, whatever it is you have an opinion on, it's just that; an opinion. I'm tired of seeing stories about how our country is polarizing itself, and I'm pointing the finger at everyone; people I agree with are JUST as bad as the people I disagree with, I mean, come on, people have counter rallies to make fun of rallies, what dicks! You're just trying to be mean. We're being big babies about everything, and we're grown ups now! I just want a break from it. Can we all, as a country, go out to a bowling alley, have a pizza party, and just be friends? I hear they have Double Dragon in the arcade area!
I'm not a religious person, I personally don't believe in God at this point in my life. If you do believe in God, then it's as real to me as it is to you, I don't think you're silly, and I don't think religion is a bad thing, I think it's awesome that you have that in your life. Do you want to hang out and play Super Mario 2? You can have the controller first!
You believe our country is being run poorly, you don't like the choices our leaders are making. That's cool, you have a lot of strong, intelligent, well thought out arguments. I, too, have my arguments that oppose yours. Mine are just as valid. Or maybe both of our arguments are stupid and we haven't read enough on the topic, want to go rent Die Hard?
I'm tired of being forced onto a dodgeball team where we throw big rubber balls made of posters and witty bumper stickers at each other. Because I feel one way doesn't make me a member of any group or party, the same way that if you tell me you believe something different doesn't make you my opponent. We don't have to agree with one another, but I think we need to start remembering to respect opinions that aren't ours. I don't want to see any more crappy t-shirts making fun of a group of people you disagree with. I don't want a big dumb rally to prove your point. I just want us to be friends again. Truce?
It's frustrating to see nobody getting anywhere, because we're all standing in each others' ways! I'm not saying we can't disagree, but can we just be fine that someone disagrees with us? Can we not hate someone who prefers Leonardo?
